Yes, the quote is from Karen Smith in Mean Girls the musical but, I really do expect to run the world but in shoes that I CAN walk in. I can walk in heels and I have been since I was about 2 years old. I have loved fashion forever. Always picked out my own clothes even when I was a little, little kid and looking back maybe I cringe now, but I was free to exercise that creativity.

I wanted to be a fashion designer for years. Frustration and upset abounded as I tried, and failed most times, to create designs when I was a kid. I had books where I could draw on a 2D mannequin and then add glitter, fluff, lace etc. and I did this a little but mostly I just looked at my fashion prompts and wished I was better.

Let me tell you because you "obviously" don’t know, You Don’t Get Better By Doing Nothing. Suffice it to say that childhood dream/potential career sort of dwindled but the love of fashion and design did not. I still want to be involved and I still want to wear clothes fit for Queens.

The subcategory of my WHY in life is to buy and conquer the world in Granate by Annina King, Victoria Beckham Fashion and wear THOSE shoes. This Friday I got to feel what it will be like to wear THAT custom-made dress at a Philly pop up shop during fashion week.

In between playing fashion icon/executive/British royalty and wearing dress and coats out of my fantasy book dreams and my global business leader aspirations, I went to do something new.

The most recent time I did something new was on Friday- slipped a raw animal down my throat.

I was worried I might gag and throw up but I didn’t

No gagging.

No throwing up.

Just oyster down and out. And it was pretty good.

I got to live the “boujee” dream. I hung out in old city in an amazing outfit and feel funky and fresh. Then I got to try on WAY more amazing outfits and literally feel like a million bucks. It’s a stupid saying but you feel it like it’s not stupid when you’re wearing an actually insanely expensive, magnificently crafted dress. I got to hang with a handsome and charming two-year-old. Lastly, I got an incredible meal that I miraculously didn’t have to pay for.

This was fricking awesome. A Friday night I won’t get to repeat for a while. My WHY is to get there though so eventually I will repeat it.

Back to regular life though. I put the dress back on the hanger and shed a few tears as I gave it one last look.

I realize though even if I don’t have these insane clothes now and live a dreamy sort of movie-like life, I can still hold myself with poise and grace. So can you.

Walk with confidence because you are worthy. Talk with kindness and grace because you are important and what you say is too. Live with gratitude and generosity because you have the abundance of a Queen.

Moral: Have fun and take the awesome opportunities-love every second of a life that usually isn’t yours. Don’t get caught up and swept away in the gold dust though (at least not until it’s actually your life).
