What is it exactly that you want out of life? Do you want the picturesque “American Dream” house with the white picket fence and the sprawling family of five (two boys and three girls) with the job that you got right out of college? Maybe you want to run wild and take the road less travelled like Robert Frost did in that shitty poem that everyone was forced to read. What you want out of life, you can get. That may sound super “American” and unrealistic to think that anything is possible, but if you drink as much coffee as Rayna anything is possible.
Turning a dream into a goal and a goal into a plan is how things are done. Everyone has a dream that they are still working towards. If you don’t have a dream you should read a different post. Give your dreams a time frame and then it turns into a goal. Turn your goal into steps and start chipping away. The hardest part is starting, because it only takes a quick decision to change your life exponentially.
Less Thinking More Doing
There was a time in my life where I was terrified of the world. I slept through the morning and worked through the night, only leaving my room to eat. I was at the stage where I was coming to the idea that I wanted to become an artist/designer. This transition period for me was met with a lot of uncertainty; I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to become. I was so deep in my head that I didn’t touch a single project for months on end. I waited so long in fact that my birthday came and went. On my birthday, I went to dinner with a couple friends and after a nice meal, the weird off-brand happy birthday song and a couple drinks, someone asked me this, “What are you hoping to accomplish this year?” This was a question I have asked myself for months and months and which I knew the answer to. I needed to execute and stop sitting back and watching life go by. This is the time the artist picks up their brush and starts slapping paint on a canvas. This is the time where you get out of bed. In the next nine months, I figured out my calling, quit my job, worked with Adidas, and started applying for grad school.
What are you willing to do to get the white picket fence house? Will you jump ship from your current job, or will you finally get out of bed and run the world? What are you hoping to accomplish?
